On February 27th 2010 Chile was struck by a Magnitude 8.8 earthquake near Concepcion.  The International Medical Assistance Team deployed its rapid assessment team into the area. IMAT administration liaised with the Chilean consulate and military, made logistical arrangements and placed the volunteers and resources in motion for Chile. Ultimately, the assessment team findings dictated that IMAT resources and volunteers would be diverted to Haiti to assist with the transition from Leogane to Port au Prince.
